EDITORIAL Despite the fact that it is now easy to renew, there has been a disappointing rate of renewals amongst the membership, though it has to be said that many who have not renewed are the people that I consider most likely to do so - eventually! If you receive a renewal notice with this Newsletter your subscriptions are due and no further reminders will be sent. You can renew online at www.thebdg.org with Visa or MasterCard. If you do not in tend to renew a few words by email would be appreciated. It is hoped that all future Newsletters will contain colour photographs. I do not seek to use my own photos unless particularly relevant, so if you want to see photos used, please submit some. JPEG files by Email are acceptable. We intend to do more work on Mantellas and I need quality colour photos for future issues, in particular of M. laevigata to illustrate an article by Barry Bevan for the next issue. I have recently received a Draft Interim Report from the Companion Animal Welfare Council (CAWC) that intends to make recommendations to Government on the suitability and care of companion animals for possible future legislation. I cannot see this group making it easier to keep our animals but the BDG has two members on the advisory group. I will keep you updated on developments. Mick Bajcar
